Rebel squadron repaint

Y ha llegado el turno de las naves rebeldes. La que pedía a gritos un pequeño retoque es el Y-Wing.

And now is the turn of the rebel ships. The one which cried for a little retouching is the Y-Wing.

Sólo he resaltado un poco los blancos y amarillos. Y ya que estaba en faena me puse con los X-Wing... en principio la idea era marcar un poco más los colores rojos, pero se me fue la mano.

I just highlighted white and yellow a bit. And as I was hard at work I started too with the X-Wing ... at first the idea was to stand out a little more the red, but I overdid it.
 

Así que ahora tienen un nuevo esquema de color. Pincel seco de gris claro sobre toda la nave y más color rojo (fui incapaz de hacer una línea recta).

So now they have a new color scheme. Drybrush of light gray on the entire ship and much more red (I was unable to make just a straight line).

TIE phantom repaint

El pasado jueves pude jugar una partida de X-Wing y probar una nave a la que tenía muchas ganas: el TIE phantom. No me defraudó y resultó ser una nave con mucha pegada y muy divertida de jugar. Nada más llegar a casa tenía claro que quería repintarla simulando el efecto del sistema de camuflaje que se ve en la carta. Y este ha sido el resultado:

Last Thursday I was able to play a game of X-Wing and try a starfighter which I really wanted to: the TIE Phantom. It did not disappoint me and proved to be a ship with lots of punch and very fun to play. Upon arriving home I knew I had to repaint it simulating the cloaking effect as it is seen on the card. And this is the result:

La mitad de la nave está pintada en negro y un pincel seco de gris oscuro. Después he pintado algunos puntitos simulando estrellas. Para los "rayos" he usado azul real, azul cielo y, por último, blanco. Usé los mismos colores para repintar los cristales de la cabina pero, aunque estoy contento con cómo han quedado, no estoy seguro de si han sido la mejor elección (morado quizás?).

Half the ship is painted in black and a dark gray dry brush. Then I painted some dots simulating stars. For the "spokes" I used real blue, blue sky and, finally, white. I used the same colors to repaint the windows of the cab but, although I'm happy with how it looks, I'm not sure if they have been the best color choice (purple maybe?).

X-Wing: asteroids, round mat & AAR

Ha pasado más de una semana desde la última vez que actualicé... La falta de tiempo sólo me permite pintar o actualizar, pero no las dos cosas a la vez! :-)   La próxima semana habrá actualización casi diaria, porque he pintado varias cosillas, pero de momento os dejo con unas fotos sobre el juego X-Wing.

It's been over a week since the last time I upgraded ... Lack of time only allows me only to paint or update, but not both at once! :-)    Next week there will be an update almost daily, because I´ve painted several things, but for now I leave you with some pictures aboutf the X-Wing game.

Lo primero unos asteroides. Están hechos con piedras y un poco de masilla para hacer un hueco para el soporte.

First of all a few asteroids. They are made with stones and some putty to make a hole for the stand.

Están pintados para dar un tono uniforme. En cuanto consiga más peanas haré alguno más de diferente tamaño.

They are painted in order to give them an even tone. As soon as I get more bases I´ll make some more asteroids of different sizes.

Reflexión de la partida: Es mala idea destruir una nave que está alejada de la acción si eso provoca que entre un nuevo refuerzo justo delante de la lanzadera... En cualquier caso, Javier tenía la partida ganada, hay que reconocerlo... ;-)

Some X-Wing AAR

Estas semanas he podido jugar un par de partidas de X-Wing y sufrir sendas derrotas... La primera vez jugamos a 55 puntos, yo llevé a los imperiales.

These weeks I could play a couple of X-Wing games and also suffer a couple of defeats... The first time we played 55 points, me commanding the imperial squadron.


Rebel:
Yt-1300 (Han Solo) + Chewbacca + Millennium Falcon + Engine Upgrade

Imperial:
Tie Advance (Darth Vader) + Swarm Tactics
2x Tie fighter (Academy Pilot)

El Halcón demostró ser muy duro. Acabó la partida con un escudo (gracias a Chewbacca) y todas mis naves fueron destruidas.

The Falcon proved to be very tough. It ended te game with one shield left (thanks to Chewbacca) and all my ships were destroyed.

In the second games we made 100 points squadrons. I played with rebels, and the squadron were:

Jugamos la mision 4: Den of  Thieves, incluida en la caja del YT-1300. Aunque mis naves se defendieron bien, el objetivo de la misión fue imposible de conseguir... Porque leí mal las reglas y pensaba que sólo conseguía el +1 a la tirada si sacaba el mísmo número de críticos que de esquiva...

We played mission 4: Den of Thieves, included in the YT-1300 expansion box. Although my ships defended well, the objective of the mission was impossible to achieve... Because I misread the rules and thought that I only get the +1 to the roll if the number of critics and dodge was the same...

X-Wing AAR!

Algunas fotos de la última partida de X-Wing. El imperio logró destruir un Ala-X y un Ala-Y, pero perdió también dos TIE y el TIE Avanzado. Cuando sólo quedaban la lanzadera Lambda y un Ala-X decidimos dejar la partida (tenemos que empezar a jugar con objetivos...).

Some photos of the last X-Wing game. The empire managed to destroy an X-wing and a Y-wing, but also lost two TIE and the TIE Advanced. Whith only the Lambda shuttle and an X-wing, we decided to end the game (we need to start playing with objetives...).

Me ha gustado la lanzadera Lambda, aunque por sí sola no puede hacer mucho con su escasa maniobrabilidad, apoyando y absorbiendo fuego puede dar algún quebradero de cabeza al adversario.

I liked the Lambda shuttle, although alone it can not do much with it´s limited maneuverability, supporting and absorbing enemy fire can give quite a headache to the adversary.

FFG: base received

Hace unos días recibí la nueva base de FFG para sustituir la que venía doblada con la lanzadera lambda... Y también está doblada. Mucho menos que la base original, y el cartón encaja perfectamente, pero no se apoya bien sobre la mesa, sólo tres esquinas hacen contacto.

Ante la duda, he comprobado la base del Halcón Milenario. Y es igual que la que acabo de recibir: un poco combada y no llega a apoyar bien. Supongo que con la ilusión del momento no debí de darme cuenta. ...

Conclusión: Ahora tengo dos peanas grandes ligeramente dobladas y otra muy doblada.

A few days ago I received the new FFG base that will replace the one wich was bent in the lambda shuttle box... And it is also bent. Much less than the original one, and cardboard fits perfectly this time, but it is still a bit unstable, as only three corners support correctly on the table.

As I was in doubt, I checked the base of the Millennium Falcon. And it is just like the one I´ve just received: a little warped and fails to properly support. I guess I didn´t notice because of the emotion of the moment...

Conclusion: Now I have two large bases slightly bent and a very bent one.

Lambda shuttle: disappointment

Decepción. Es lo que me he llevado al abrir la caja de la lanzadera lambda para X-Wing...
La lanzadera lambda ha sido un regalo de cumpleaños y, evidentemente, lo primero que he hecho ha sido sacar la nave para verla de cerca, pero al desplegar las alas me encuentro con esto:

 The lambda shuttle has been a birthday gift and, obviously, the first thing I did was take the ship to see it up close, but when I spread the wings I find this:

 

No consigo desplegar las alas más allá de esta posición y si intento forzarlo da la impresión de que algo se va a partir y la figura empieza a abrirse.

I can't unfold the wings beyond this position and if I try to force it gives the impression that something is going to break and figure begins to disassemble.

 

En fin, ya chequearé por los foros a ver qué comenta la gente al respecto. Sigamos revisando material... ups! Segundo problema: ¡La base está doblada!

Anyway, I´ll check some forums later to see what people said about it. Lets check more items... Ups! Second problem: the base is bent!

A estas alturas el mosqueo ya es considerable así que el resto del contenido no me ha hecho especial ilusión:

• Libreto de reglas: sin novedades, salvo que la lanzadera puede declarar velocidad 0. El escenario no es muy interesante.
• Pilotos: cuatro cartas de pilotos, tres con personajes con habilidades más bien sosas. La nave parece difícil de maniobrar.
• Cartas de mejora: algunas cartas interesantes, como el rehén o el emisor de interferencias (pero no controlo mucho de combos, así que no me hagáis mucho caso).

By now the anger is already considerable and the rest of the box content has not made me special pleasure:

• Rules: nothing new,  exceot that you can declare speed 0 with the shuttle. Scenario not very interesting.
• Pilots: four pilot cards, including three characters with skills rather dull. The ship seems difficult to maneuver.
• Upgrades: some interesting cards, as "Rebel Captive" or "Sensor Jammer" (but I'm not an expert on this, so don't not pay too much attention).

Después de buscar soluciones y ver comentarios acerca del problema de las alas encontré una "solución" bastante sencilla en BoardGameGeek. Este es el aspecto que tiene ahora la nave con las alas desplegadas. Aún así, me sigue dando la impresión de que es un fallo de diseño.

After searching for solutions and reading comments about the wings problem I´ve found a quite simple "solution" at BoardGameGeek. This is how it looks like now the shuttle with the wings unfolded. Yet, it still gives me the impression that it is a design flaw.

Me he puesto en contacto con FFG para ver qué solución me dan al problema de la base. Estoy a la espera de respuesta, ya os comentaré. Para terminar, os dejo una foto comparativa de mis dos naves grandes.

El pasado miércoles jugué otra partida de X-Wing con Eladio, esta vez estrenando el fantástico tapete de espacio. Hacer un informe de este tipo de juego es un poco complejo, así que simplemente os dejo unas fotos (gracias Eladio!) y las listas.

Enfrentarse a tantas naves imperiales con sólo dos naves rebeldes fue un poco estresante al principio, pero gracias a R2-D2 y a Chewbacca mis naves aguantaron los primeros turnos y, en cuanto empezaron a caer los primeros TIE imperiales, se empezó a notar la superioridad de las naves y pilotos rebeldes. La partida terminó con la victoria de los rebeldes, que no sufrieron ningún impacto, tras destruir los tres TIE y hacer que el Firespray abandonase la mesa, perseguido de cerca por Skywalker.

Facing so many Imperial ships with only two rebel ships was a bit stressful at first, but thanks to R2-D2 and Chewbacca my ships endured the first turns and, once the first imperial TIE was destroyed, I began to notice the superiority of rebel ships and pilots. The game ended with the victory of the rebels, who suffered no impact, after destroying the three TIE and force the Firespray to abandon the table, pursued closely by Skywalker.

X-Wing gaming mat

Hace unos días leí en ¡Hasta el último cartucho! acerca de la posibilidad de mandar imprimir un tapete a través de pixartprinting. Me gustó la idea, y viendo que el precio era muy asequible me decidí a encargar el mío.

A few days ago I read at ¡Hasta el último cartucho! about the possibility of printing a gaming mat for X-Wing through pixartprinting, so I ordered mine. I did it from a picture I got at www.labsk.net, with some tweaks. The material (PVC, I think) is flexible, thin and tough, and very good impression. I am very happy with the purchase (only 12 €), now I have an area of play for my X-Wing games.

Utilicé una imagen obtenida en www.labsk.net, que modifiqué un poco para eliminar unos símbolos que no me gustaban. Como no tengo demasiado espacio en casa, me he limitado a un tamaño de 90x90 cm, que es la zona de juego.

La calidad de impresión es muy buena, y el material fino flexible y resistente. El precio: entre 10 y 12€, dependiendo de lo pronto que desees recibirlo. Como véis, es bastante barato. Se me están ocurriendo un montón de posibles usos... wings of war, mordheim, mar...

X-WING

Yo también he caído con este juego... Me regalaron la caja básica hace unos meses por mi cumpleaños y el otro día conseguí sacar tiempo para jugar un par de partidas. Además, para la ocasión, decidí comprarme el Halcón Milenario y estrenarlo también en duelo contra el Esclavo I de Eladio.

I've fallen with this game too... I have the basic box as biirthday present a few months ago and the other day I managed to get some time to play a couple of games. In addition, and for the occasion, I decided to buy the Millennium Falcon and also fight a duel it against Eladio´s Slave I.

Este par de naves son unos bichos duros de pelar con la cantidad de escudos e impactos que tienen. Después de unos cuantos turnos nos habíamos quedado sin escudos, al Esclavo I sólo le quedaba un impacto y al Halcón dos. Lando disparaba primero a corto alcance y tenía el objetivo fijado sobre Boba Fett... pero no consigue ningún impacto! Boba en cambio consigue hacer un crítico. Cojo la carta y... Doble daño!

Fin de la partida.

This pair of ships are hard nuts because of the amount of shields and impacts they have. After a few turns we were out of shields, the Slave I had only one impact left and the Falcon two. Lando shots first at close range and had the target lock on Boba Fett ... but gets no impact! Boba instead manages to make a critic. I take the card and... Double Damage!

End of the match!

Las figuras son espectaculares y el pintado más que aceptable. Creo que haré caso a Eladio y pintaré los motores, que es el único detalle que le falta a la figura.

The figures are spectacular and painting is more than acceptable. I think I'll follow up Eladio´s idea and paint the engines, which is the only detail missing from the figure.



Decidimos jugar otra partida, esta vez con un par de naves pequeñas: X-Wing e Y-Wing contra Tie y Tie Avanzado.

We decided to play another game, this time with a couple of small ships: X-Wing and Y-Wing against Tie and Advanced Tie.

A pesar de mi habilidad para estamparme con todos los asteroides y quedarme prácticamente sin escudos conseguí derribar a los cazas imperiales con el X-Wing. El Y-Wing no influyo mucho, a parte de atraer disparos. Aunque es una nave potente es demasiado poco maniobrable para mi gusto...

Despite my ability to slam with all asteroids, that puts almost all my shields down, I managed to shot down the Imperial fighters with my X-Wing. The Y-Wing did not affect much, apart from attracting shots. Although it is a powerful ship is too little maneuverable for my liking...

Como ya comenta todo el mundo, es un juego muy divertido y rápido. Espero repetir pronto... y creo que necesito un tapete!
