De vez en cuando saco algo de tiempo para montar miniaturas, de hecho, estoy organizando todas mis miniaturas de El Señor de Los Anillos para ver si tengo suficientes como para montar un par de ejércitos de La Guerra del Anillo.

Occasionally I get some time to assemble miniatures, in fact, I am organizing all my The Lord of the Rings miniatures to see if I have enough to make a couple of War of the Ring armies.


Tengo un troll de Mordor de metal, pero para añadir algunos puntos más a mi ejército decidí comprar otro de plástico (15€, encontré un buen descuento). La sorpresa vino cuando me di cuenta de que en las matrices vienen cabezas y brazos suficientes como para montar tres trolls, lo único que falta es el cuerpo.

El cuerpo/piernas del troll está dividido en dos mitades que al ser bastante planas, resultan muy fáciles de clonar con el Oyumaru. Así que ni corto ni perezoso me puse a ello.

I have a metal Mordor troll, but in order to add some more points to my army I decided to buy another plastic one (15€, I found a nice discount). The surprise came when I realized that the sprues come with enough heads and arms to assemble three trolls, the only part missing is the body.

The body/legs of the troll is divided into two quite flat halves, that would be very easy to clone with Oyumaru. So, without thinking it too much, I get into it.

Como podéis ver, el detalle conseguido es bastante bueno. Lo que no he conseguido es que la unión de las piezas sea buena, pero no es nada que no se pueda solucionar con más masilla :-)

As you can see, the detail obtained is quite good. However, the union of the two parts it´s not very good.. But this is nothing that can not be solved with more putty :-)


No era necesario clonar la cabeza, pero quería tener las cuatro cabezas distintas.

Foto de familia, aunque falta el troll de metal. Hay algunas pequeñas conversiones extras: al casco de Isengard (troll de la izquierda) le he cortado la cresta y el troll de la derecha (originalmente con tambores) lleva dos martillos (uno del troll de Moria). Por cierto, los tambores del troll los usaré como tambores de los orcos de Moria. Básicamente, he utilizado TODAS las partes de las matrices. :-))

Family photo, but without the metal troll. There are some small extra conversions: I´ve cut the crest of Isengard´s helmet (troll on the left) and the troll on the right (the drummer, originally) has two hammers (one of the Moria troll). By the way, I will use the troll drums as drums for the Orcs of Moria. Basically, I have used EVERY PART of the sprues :-))


Algunos otros ejemplos de experimentos con oyumaru. El escudo ha quedado muy bien, pero no consigo darle el punto a las figuras... Creo que no me compensa el tiempo, masilla y esfuerzo empleados para el resultado que obtengo.

Some other examples of experiments with oyumaru. The shield is pretty good, but I can not get a good result with complete figures ... I think it doesn´t deserves the time, putty and effort used for the result I get.

Testing Oyumaru

Recientemente he adquirido unas barritas de oyumaru (o instant mold), ya que tras ver este tutorial me ha parecido una forma muy sencilla de clonar piezas de miniaturas.

I recently acquired some oyumaru bars (or instant mold), cause after seeing this tutorial I think it could be an easy way to clone miniature pieces.


Este material se vuelve totalmente maleable si se calienta en agua a unos 80º C.
Colocando la pieza (esqueletos de Warmaster en la foto) entre dos trozos y presionando durante unos minutos se fabrica el molde.

This material becomes completely malleable when heated in water at 80 ° C.

Después se rellena el molde de masilla. Creo que es la parte más complicada, es difícil acertar con la cantidad.

Después se cierra el molde y se presiona de nuevo durante unos minutos.

Y este es el resultado. Se puede mejorar, pero para ser el primer intento no está mal. La masilla se ha roto en las lanzas, por ser demasiado finas, pero creo que el detalle que se consigue es bastante bueno, teniendo en cuenta que son 10mm! Debajo hay otro intento, una cabeza de alien en 28mm.

And this is the result. It can be improved, but not bad being the first attempt. The putty has broken at spears, as they are too thin, but I think the detail you get is pretty good, considering they are 10mm! Below is another attempt, an alien head at 28mm.

No está nada mal el invento, creo que es muy útil para clonar pequeñas piezas pero no creo que sirva a gran escala. Realmente lo difícil es acertar con la cantidad de masilla, espero pillarle el truco pronto.

Not bad the invention, I think is very useful for cloning small pieces but do not think that serves at large scale. The really difficult thing is to ascertain the amount of putty, hope I´ll soon get the hang of it.
