Bisontes y León [Palaeo Diet: eat or be eaten]

Tras ver la película Alpha (muy recomendable), sentí la necesidad imperiosa de ampliar el proyecto Palaeo Diet. La primera figura es este león de las cavernas.

Originalmente es un tigre dientes de sable de Pulp Figures al que le recorté los dientes y le hice una cola larga con masilla.

Las siguientes fueron estos bisontes. Tenéis que ver la película para entender las ganas que tenía de pintarlos...

Las figuras son bisontes europeos de DeeZee, pero les hice los cuernos más grandes con masilla.

Terror birds for Tusk

En un pequeño paréntesis de los 6mm he pintado un par de aves del terror de Reaper para una partida especial de Tusk.

In a small break of 6mm, I´ve painted a couple of Reaper terror birds for a special game of Tusk.

El objetivo de la partida consistirá en robar los huevos de estas dos temibles aves, así que también he hecho con masilla un nido y cuatro huevos.

The objective of the game consist on stealing the eggs of these two fearsome birds, so I've also made with putty a nest and four eggs.

Y aunque no era estrictamente necesario, decidí hacer unos marcadores por si a alguien se le caía un huevo...

And, although it was not strictly necessary, I decided to make some markers just in case someone drops an egg...

Elasmotherium

Retomo el proyecto de la prehistoria (y la adaptación del reglamento Tusk) con esta impresionante figura de DeeZee Miniatures, a la que he añadido un poco más de volumen aumentando la chepa con masilla.

I resume the prehistoric project (and my Tusk rules modification) with this awesome figure of DeeZee Miniatures,  to which I added a little more volume increasing hump with putty.

Como podéis ver he cambiado el estilo de las bases, de manera que me tocará hacer algunos repintados...

Wolf pack (or dogs)

Ya tengo pintada la manada de lobos de Reaper. Han sido muy agradables de pintar y estoy muy contento con el resultado. Los voy a poder usar tanto como depredadores que ataquen a los cavernícolas como "perros que les ayuden en las cacerías.

I've already painted Reaper wolf pack. They have been very nice to paint and I'm very happy with the final result. I will be able to use both as predators that attack the cavemen or as "dogs" that help them during hunting.

Segunda tanda de miniaturas prehistóricas!


LOBOS / WOLVES
Los lobos son unos animales fundamentales, ya que pueden jugar el papel de depredadores y enfrentarse a los cavernícolas, o ser usados como "perros" y ayudarles en las labores de caza. Hay muchas marcas que fabriquen lobos en 28mm, Otherworld Miniatures tiene unos que me gustan mucho, pero una vez más he optado por la gran relación calidad/precio de Reaper y he comprado su blister Wolf Pack, que incluye tres figuras fantásticas.

Wolves are a must buy miniatures because they can play the role of predators and deal with the cavemen, or be used as "dogs" and help in the hunting. There are many manufacturers that made wolves in 28mm, Otherworld Miniatures is one that I like, but again I opted for the great quality/price of Reaper and I bought their Wolf Pack bliste , which includes three fantastic figures.

MAMUT / MAMMOTH
Otra miniatura fundamental (en un juego sobre caza de mamuts). En esta ocasión la miniatura es uno de los modelos de DeeZee Miniatures, una espectacular figura en resina (con muy poquitos fallos) y cola y colmillos de metal. Lamentablemente, rompí uno de los colmillos al darle forma (se ve en la foto) y poco después conseguí arreglármelas para partir el otro... Afortunadamente he podido hacer un par de colmillos nuevos con masilla verde y un clip.

Another key miniature (in a game about of mammoth hunting). This time the miniature is one of the models of DeeZee Miniatures, a spectacular figure in resin (with very few failures) and tail and metal tusks. Unfortunately, I broke one of the tusks trying to bend it (shown in photo) and later I managed to break the other one... Fortunately I have made a couple of new teeth with green stuff and a clip.

ELASMOTHERIUM
Uno de mis mamíferos prehistóricos favoritos. Aunque al final quedé bastante contento con el rinoceronte lanudo de Reaper, no me he podido resistir a este modelo de DeeZee que es tan espectacular como pesado (está hecho de metal macizo). Tengo pensada una pequeña conversión para mejorarlo un poquito más... ya os la enseñaré    :-)

One of my favorite prehistoric mammals. Although at the end I was quite happy with Reaper´s woolly rhinoceros, I couldn´t resist to this DeeZee model that is as spectacular as heavy (made of solid metal). I have designed a small conversion to improve it a little more ... I´ll show it to you soon   :-)

Estas cebras de North Star harán el papel de caballos prehistóricos. Van a necesitar algo de trabajo y conversión, ya que las cinco son todas iguales...

These North Star zebras will play the role of prehistoric horses. They will need some work and conversion, as the all five are the same model...

WIP - predators and scenery (close for holidays)

Tranquilos, no he vuelto a desconectar, pero me he puesto a trabajar en varias cosas a la vez y tengo muchas cosas a medias o a punto de terminar. Os dejo algunas fotos para poneros los dientes largos.

Relax, I have not disconnect (yet), but I have started to work on several things at once and I have many things halfway or almost done. Here are some photos to begin with.

Lobos de Reaper. Se pueden usar como depredadores o como "perros" que ayudan a los cavernícolas. Son unas figuras muy bonitas, aunque uno venía con un defecto en la boca.

Reaper wolves. Can be used as predators or as "dogs" that help the cavemen. The figures are very nice, although one came with a defect in the mouth.

Conversión de león cavernario: el original lo podéis ver aquí. Le he quitado los dientes y añadido cola. La figura sigue sin ser gran cosa... creo que además va a ser chunga de pintar.

Cave lion conversion: the original can be seen here. I have removed the teeth and added a tail. I still don´t like the fiure too much... It also look like is going to be hard to paint.

Bases de escenografía. Les pondré hierba alta para dar algo de cobertura a mis cazadores y variedad al tablero de juego.

Scenery bases. I will put tall grass on them to give some coverage to my hunters and variety to the game board.

También estoy trabajando en mujeres cavernícolas y marcadores de tierra quemada y fuego. Los lobos y los marcadores de tierra quemada están terminados, las mujeres y la escenografia casi. "Lamentablemente", mañana me marcho de vacaciones y estaré desconectado hasta el 17. Así que estad atentos a las novedades a la vuelta!

I´m also working on cavewomen and fire and burned earth markers. Wolves and burned earth markers are finished, women and the scenery almost. "Unfortunately," tomorrow I go on vacation and I'll be offline until 17. So stay tuned for updates till then!

Coelodonta antiquitatis

Otra figura más de Reaper. Aunque en un principio no me entusiasmaba demasiado, he de reconocer que pintada ha mejorado mucho (aún así me sigue pareciendo un poco pequeña).

El rinoceronte lanudo (Coelodonta antiquitatis) es un enorme rinoceronte (con 4 m de largo y casi 2 de alto) de pelo espeso que habitó las frías estepas de Eurasia (aunque llegó a extenderse hasta el centro de España y el sur de Inglaterra) durante el Pleistoceno.

Another Reaper figure. Although at first I wasn´t very excited with the figure, I must admit that painting has improved it a lot (yet it still looks a bit small).

The woolly rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) is a huge rhinoceros (4 m long and nearly 2 meters high) with thick hair who lived in the cold steppes of Eurasia during the Pleistocene(although it extended to the center of Spain and southern England).

Al contrario que otros rinocerontes, los cuernos del rinoceronte lanudo eran aplanados, pudiendo alcanzar fácilmente un metro de longitud. Gracias al hallazgo de un ejemplar de hembra completo (incluyendo carne, pelo y cuernos) se conoce incluso el color del pelaje en vida, que era pardo oscuro con una banda negra a lo largo del dorso.

Su extinción probablemente se deba a causas climáticas, ya que se trata de un animal demasiado peligroso como para ser cazado por los neandertales.

Unlike other rhinos, woolly rhinoceros horns were flat and can easily reach one meter in length. Thanks to the finding of a complete female (including meat, hair and horns), we known even the fur color in life, which was dark brown with a black band along the back.

Its extinction was probably due to climatic reasons, because this animal was too dangerous to be hunted by neanderthals.
