Gondor Ballista [10mm LOTR]

Esta unidad no tiene ninguna conversión, es simplemente una balista romana y un par de figuras de artilleros medievales de Pendraken pintados con los colores del ejército.

This unit has no conversion, it s just a roman ballista and a pair of medieval artillery crew figures painted with the colors of the army.

Rangers of Ithilien [10mm LOTR]

Ya están terminadas la dos últimas unidades que me quedaban por pintar: los montaraces de Ithilien.

I´ve finished the last two LOTR units that I had to paint: the Rangers of Ithilien.

Las he pintado un poco rápido... probablemente, si hubiese tenido tiempo, les podría haber sacado más partido, ya que las figuras son geniales (como todas las que he pintado de Copplestone).

I've painted them quite fast ... probably, if I'd had time, I might have had a better outcome, as the figures are great (as all the rest of Copplestone figures that I have already painted).

Ya sólo me queda pintar algunos personajes, concretamente Imrahil, Faramir y Boromir, y daré por terminada la primera fase del proyecto.

Now I just have to paint some characters, especially Imrahil, Faramir and Boromir, and I will end the first phase of the project.

 

En navidades haré un nuevo pedido a Copplestone. Para completar el ejército quiero añadir: 2 unidades de caballería de Gondor,  2 más de lanceros y una unidad de artillería (usaré alguna máquina de Pendraken). ¡Y también empezaré con las primeras unidades del ejército de Mordor!

At Christmas I will make a new order to Copplestone. In order to complete the Gondor army I want to add 2 units of Gondor knights, 2 more spearmen units and one artillery unit (I will use some Pendraken artillery).And also start with the first units of the army of Mordor!

Elessar conversion [10mm LOTR]

Y la última entrada de ESDLA, por el momento: Elessar (peana de comandante)

Para esta conversión he utilizado la figura de un oficial de los lanceros. Le he añadido capa y modificado el yelmo. Con eso y cambiar el esquema de color la figura es suficiente para destacarlo sobre la mesa.

For this conversion I´ve used an officer figure from a spearmen unit. I´ve added a cape and modified the helmet. Just with this and changin the figure color scheme is enough to highlight  it on the table

El estandarte real está hecho con masilla. El color azul contrasta muy bien con el resto del ejército.

Royal Standard is made of green putty. The blue color contrasts nicely with the rest of the army.

Me quedan un par de unidades de montaraces, pero se me ha acabado el spray de imprimación... espero remediarlo en breve.

I have a couple of Rangers units left, but I ran out of primer... I hope to remedy it soon.

City Guard Conversion - [10mm LOTR]

Para mi tercera unidad de soldados he decidido hacer una conversión: la guardia de la ciudad.

La conversión ha consistido en añadir una capa (sencillo) y un par de alas a los yelmos (un poco más complicado). El estandarte de la unidad también es casero (hecho con masilla) y, aunque reconozco que quedaría mejor un estandarte ondeando, he decidido hacerlo plano porque es el estilo de los estandartes de Copplestone.

For my third unit of soldiers I have decided to do a conversion: the city guard.

The conversion consist on adding a cape (easy) and a pair of wings on the helmets (slightly more complicated). The unit standard is also handmade (​​with green putty) and, although I admit that would be better a waving banner, I decided to do flat one because it is the style of Copplestone banners.

Knights of Dol Amroth [10mm LOTR]

Lamentablemente, Copplestone Castings no dispone de una referencia de caballeros de Gondor. Mientras pienso una forma de conseguirlos (probablemente una conversión) se me ha ocurrido una idea para disponer de una unidad de caballería mientras tanto: usar bretonianos de Warmaster como caballeros de Dol Amroth.

Unfortunately, Copplestone Castings do not have a reference for Gondor knights. While I think about a way to get them (probably a conversion), I´ve had an idea to deploy a cavalry unit meantime: using Warmaster Bretonnian knights as Dol Amroth knights.

 

La idea original era usar las figuras de los caballeros del reino y hacer alguna conversión en los yelmos. Pero como andaba un poco perezoso con la masilla verde, al final escogí los caballeros noveles (también porque tenía muchas ganas de pintarlos).

The original idea was to use knights of the realm figures and do some conversion on the helmets. But as I was a little lazy with green putty, so I finally choose the knights errant figures (also because I really wanted to paint them).

Los caballeros noveles creo que son mi referencia favorita de Warmaster (R.I.P.). Tienen un dinamismo brutal y un detalle muy fino. Lo único que me sobra son una especie de sellos de pureza que les han puesto por varios sitios (y que debería haber quitado...).

I think knights errant are my favorite Warmaster (RIP) reference. They have a brutal dynamism and very fine detail. The only thing I would have left out is some kind of purity seals they have on several places (and I should have removed ...).

Creo que la elección ha sido acertada, y solo con pintar los colores y las heráldicas ya se identifican claramente, ¿no os parece?

Gondor soldiers [10mm LOTR]

Inicio de un nuevo proyecto: ESDLA en 10mm. Las figuras serán principalmente de Copplestone Castings, aunque completaré con otras gamas como Pendraken las referencias que me falten.

The first two units I´ve painted this summer were Gondor soldiers.

La calidad de las figuras es espectacular, con un detalle muy definido y en su justa medida (sin detallitos absurdos que no voy a poder pintar).

Como véis, he usado bases individuales de 6x3 cm. La idea es hacer una adaptación de Warmaster, pero ya hablaremos de las reglas más adelante...

As you see, I´ve opted for individual bases of 6x3 cm. The idea is to adapt Warmaster rules, but I´ll talk about the rules later...

LOTR 10mm - Phase I: humans

Como ya comenté, voy a embarcarme en un nuevo proyecto en 10mm: El Señor de los Anillos. La culpa de todo la tienen las excelentes figuras de Copplestone Castings... Para empezar he encargado cuatro blisters de guardias de la ciudad (el equivalente en "no quiero movidas con las licencias" a los hombres de Gondor). En concreto han sido dos blisters de lanceros, uno de arqueros y otro de montaraces. Os dejo algunas fotos.

As I said, I will embark on a new 10mm project: The Lord of the Rings. Copplestone Castings excellent figures are responsible for all of this... To start with, I have commissioned four blisters of city men (the equivalent to men of Gondor in "I do not want problems with licensing" language). In particular, I´ve ordered two of spearmen, one of archers and one of rangers. Here are some photos.

Lanceros / Spearmen

Son figuras bastante sencillas, pero bien definidas. Para mí perfectas porque vienen en tiras (fácil de pintar) y se pueden separar individualmente con facilidad. Lo malo (aunque a mí no me afecta) es que la tira ocupa un poco más de 4cm, es decir, sería un poco incómodo para hacer unidades de Warmaster (que no será mi caso). El estandarte es también un poco soso...

Figures are quite simple, but very well defined. Perfect for me, because they come in strips (easy to paint) and can be separated individually easily. The bad thing (though does not affect me) is that the strip takes a little more than 4 cm, ie, it would be a little uncomfortable for Warmaster units (not the case with me). The banner is also a bit bland...

Arqueros / Archers

Los arqueros (24 figuras) vienen de dos en dos, como las figuras de Warmaster, pero se pueden separar fácilmente. Como los lanceros, son figuras sencillas pero de buena calidad.

Archers (24 figures) come in two by two, as Warmaster figures, but they can be easily separated. As spearmen, simple figures but good quality.

 

Montaraces / Rangers

Los montaraces son las figuras más espectaculares, y además tienen muchas poses. Lo malo es que el blister cuesta lo mismo que el de arqueros a pesar de tener menos figuras (18 figuras).

Rangers are the most spectacular figures, and they also have many poses. The bad thing is that the blister costs the same as archers one, despite having less figures (18 figures).



He decidido usar las mismas bases que para el proyecto de Magnesia. Redistribuyendo las figuras me da para hacer 7 unidades: dos de lanceros, una de guardia real (haré conversión), dos de arqueros y dos de montaraces (hostigadores). Y me sobra alguna miniatura para personajes/conversiones. Creo recordad que el blister me costó unos 6€, es decir, más o menos la mitad de lo que cuesta un blister de Warmaster.

I have decided that I will use the same basis as for Magnesia project. Redistributing the figures, I´ll do 7 units: two of spearmen, a royal guard (will do conversion), two archers and two Rangers (skirmishers). And spare me some figures to do conversions. I remember that the blister cost me about 6 €, ie roughly half the cost of a blister Warmaster.
