4Ground Hovel

Para dar un poco de vida a las partidas de SAGA (que algún día espero jugar) decidí comprar uno de estos edificios de 4Ground. No era algo que tuviese en mente, pero me llamó la atención el detalle que tenían y el precio asequible.

In order to give some life to my SAGA games (the ones someday I hope to play) I decided to buy one of these 4Ground buildings. It was not something I had in mind, but I was struck by the detail they had and the affordable price.

La idea era haber publicado un paso a paso del montaje... pero se montan tan rápido que cuando me di cuenta ya la tenía casi terminada!

The idea was to have posted an assemble step by step guide... but I assembled it so fast that, when I realized, I already had almost finished it!

El tejado es la parte más engorrosa, porque implica cubrirlo todo con cola blanca y esperar a que seque (también hay que "peinarlo). Aunque incluir el trozo de tela me parece sencillamente genial. Lo único que me ha decepcionado un poco es el suelo en el interior, ya que no tiene nada de detalle. Podría darle algo de textura, pero creo que no me voy a complicar y lo voy a dejar como está... de momento.

The roof is the most cumbersome part, because it involves cover everything with PVA and wait for it to dry (you also have to "comb" it). However, I think including the piece of cloth is just great. The only thing that disappointed me a bit is the ground on the interior, as it has no detail. Could give it some texture, but I think I will not complicate and I'll leave it as is ... for now.

Resumiendo:

POSITIVO
- Precio asequible
- Prepintado de buena calidad
- Fácil y rápido montaje (aunque el tejado lleva un poco más de tiempo)

NEGATIVO
- El suelo del interior no tiene nada de detalle.
- Ahora quiero comprar más...

- Quick and easy assembly (although the roof takes a little longer)

Uncharted Seas

Hace mucho que quería pintar uno de los barcos de Uncharted Seas, y por fin este fin de semana me he decidido. El modelo escogido es un crucero Ralgard. Las naves de tamaño medio son mis favoritas y el diseño de las naves Ralgard me encanta.

Long ago I wanted to paint one of the ships of Uncharted Seas, and finally this weekend I´ve decided. The chosen model is a Ralgard cruise. The medium-sized ships are my favorite and I love the Ralgard ship design.

Como podéis ver, he usado colores más neutros que el rojo y negro del pintado oficial, aunque probablemente pinte cada nave de colores diferentes.

As you can see, I´ve used neutral colors rather the red and black used on the official painting, although I´ll probably paint each ship with different colors.

He decidido probar algo nuevo y he usado una base transparente, concretamente una de las bases que Spartan Games fabrica para Dystopian Wars. Tenía pensado añadir algunos detalles con el efecto agua, pero al cogerlo resulta que se había secado desde la última vez que lo usé. Cuando consiga uno nuevo haré el retoque, pero de momento os dejo una foto de cómo queda el barco sobre un tapete de mar (Dreadfleet).

I´ve decided to try something new and I´ve used a transparent base, specifically one of those made by Spartan Games for Dystopian Wars. I had planned to add some details with the water effect, but sadly it has dried up since the last time I used it. I´ll do it once I get a new one, but for now I leave you a picture of how the ship looks like on a sea mat (Dreadfleet).

Por fin, mi primera unidad de SAGA terminada.

At last , my first SAGA unit is finished.

 

No estoy demasiado contento con el resultado, pero son las primeras figuras de 28mm que pinto en mucho tiempo y me ha costado mucho terminarlas.

I'm not too happy with the result, but they are the first 28mm figures I paint in a while and I had a hard time finishing them.

Mientras tanto os dejo unas fotos de las conversiones que estoy haciendo para la segunda unidad de infantería: 8 ballesteros.

Meanwhile, here you have some photos of the conversions I'm making for the second infantry unit: 8 crossbowmen.

Los cuerpos son de Conquest Games y he usado ballestas de la caja de Milicia Imperial de GW (la mejor caja de regimiento de la historia de GW), generosamente donadas por Ulrich y Gran Maori (Muchas gracias chicos!). En algunos casos ha bastado con recortar los brazos, pero en otros tendré que usar masilla. En cualquier caso creo que el resultado va a ser más que aceptable.

I´ve used Conquest Games miniatures bodies and the crossbows are from GW Imperial Militia box (the best regiment box on GW history), generously donated by Ulrich and Gran Maori (Thanks chaps!). In some cases, it was enough to cut a bit the arms, but I will have to use putty on others. In any case, I think the result will be more than acceptable.

FFG: base received

Hace unos días recibí la nueva base de FFG para sustituir la que venía doblada con la lanzadera lambda... Y también está doblada. Mucho menos que la base original, y el cartón encaja perfectamente, pero no se apoya bien sobre la mesa, sólo tres esquinas hacen contacto.

Ante la duda, he comprobado la base del Halcón Milenario. Y es igual que la que acabo de recibir: un poco combada y no llega a apoyar bien. Supongo que con la ilusión del momento no debí de darme cuenta. ...

Conclusión: Ahora tengo dos peanas grandes ligeramente dobladas y otra muy doblada.

A few days ago I received the new FFG base that will replace the one wich was bent in the lambda shuttle box... And it is also bent. Much less than the original one, and cardboard fits perfectly this time, but it is still a bit unstable, as only three corners support correctly on the table.

As I was in doubt, I checked the base of the Millennium Falcon. And it is just like the one I´ve just received: a little warped and fails to properly support. I guess I didn´t notice because of the emotion of the moment...

Conclusion: Now I have two large bases slightly bent and a very bent one.

Rangers of Ithilien [10mm LOTR]

Ya están terminadas la dos últimas unidades que me quedaban por pintar: los montaraces de Ithilien.

I´ve finished the last two LOTR units that I had to paint: the Rangers of Ithilien.

Las he pintado un poco rápido... probablemente, si hubiese tenido tiempo, les podría haber sacado más partido, ya que las figuras son geniales (como todas las que he pintado de Copplestone).

I've painted them quite fast ... probably, if I'd had time, I might have had a better outcome, as the figures are great (as all the rest of Copplestone figures that I have already painted).

Ya sólo me queda pintar algunos personajes, concretamente Imrahil, Faramir y Boromir, y daré por terminada la primera fase del proyecto.

Now I just have to paint some characters, especially Imrahil, Faramir and Boromir, and I will end the first phase of the project.

 

En navidades haré un nuevo pedido a Copplestone. Para completar el ejército quiero añadir: 2 unidades de caballería de Gondor,  2 más de lanceros y una unidad de artillería (usaré alguna máquina de Pendraken). ¡Y también empezaré con las primeras unidades del ejército de Mordor!

At Christmas I will make a new order to Copplestone. In order to complete the Gondor army I want to add 2 units of Gondor knights, 2 more spearmen units and one artillery unit (I will use some Pendraken artillery).And also start with the first units of the army of Mordor!
