Triarii

Este verano también he podido pintar una unidad más para el proyecto de Magnesia: una unidad de triarii.

This summer I've been able to paint a unit for Magnesia project: a triarii unit.

Recordad que estas miniaturas han sido transformadas. La disposición en la peana es más regular que en las otras unidades de princeps y hastati, y he incluido tres figuras más.

 Remember that these miniatures have been modified. The display on the base is more regular than on the other units of hastati and princeps, and I have also included three figures more.

Para completar "una legión" tengo que pintar un par de unidades más (hastati y principes) y la caballería. ¡Aunque lento, el proyecto va avanzando!

Pendraken triarii (review & conversion)

Figuras originales / Original figures

Las figuras de los triarii tienen el mismo nivel de calidad (excelente) que los principes y hastati. Incluye dos poses, arrodillado y de pie.

The triarii figures have the same quality level (excellent) as the principes and hastati figures. Includes two poses, kneeling and standing.

Lamentablemente, es esta ocasión no he podido ignorar el pequeño problema que ya he comentado anteriormente: los yelmos de los tres tipos de legionarios son iguales. Con los hastati y principes lo he podido pasar por alto, pero los triarii usaban un yelmo tan característico que he decidido hacer una pequeña conversión. En primer lugar he reemplazado la lanza de la figura en pie, ya que mi idea es representar una unidad estática, y no quiero que la lanza esté inclinada. En segundo lugar, para el yelmo, he usado como referencia el trabajo hecho por Phobos en el foro de Pendraken... aunque, evidentemente, no me ha quedado ni la mitad de bien. En fin, me conformo con que una vez pintado se aprecie un poco la diferencia, pero no creo que lo repita la conversión del casco con la segunda unidad.

Unfortunately, this time I could not ignore the little problem that I´ve mentioned earlier: the helmets of the three types of legionnaires are equal. I have overlooked it with principes and hastati, but triarii helmet was so characteristic that I´ve decided to do a little conversion. First I replaced the spear of the standing figure, since my idea is to represent a static unit and I don't want it tilted. Second, for the helmet, I used as reference the work done by Phobos at Pendraken forum... although, obviously, my work have not been even half as good as his. Anyway, I hope that, once painted, it will appreciate a little difference, but I think I´ll not repeat the helmet conversion with the second unit.
